'Paa' - A class of its kind

When i first read about this movie and heard about the team  Balki - P.C.Sriram - Ilayaraja, i promised myself i will watch this movie at any rate.  That, it has both the Bachchans in the movie hardly mattered when i resolved to watch if first day first show.  And i would maintain the same stance after watching this movie today. The movie would have been equally good with any combination of casting.

Brilliant cinematography (PCS), slick editing (don't know who) and absolutely brilliant re-recording (Ilay the great) makes it a memorable experience. Abhishek is good in patches. Amitabh - one needs to be reminded that the character Auro is the Big B (i had to be challenged that the voice is not of Nasiruddin Shah's(recall his mumbling delivery in  Gandhi}) but that role stands out. Vidya and the Mrs Nag have a controlled and consistent performance.

Overall the movie is an experience. It would go down as a techinically brilliant effort.

Came out feeling the same way i did some 18 years ago after watching Maniratnam's Anjali.
